Buying car parts can be a hassle if you don’t know what your looking at. The professionals at Bertino Auto Repair shop make it easy and honest to find the parts you need. The following is a list of 7 Auto Repair Parts Buying Tips By Bertino Automotive Service:

1. Make A Detailed Car Parts List

There are 2 websites every shopper ought to visit before shopping for car parts. The first, Car-Part.com, offers the biggest info of used automotive vehicle components within the world. The second is eBay—perhaps you have heard of? Ebay happens to be the biggest remanufactured automotive vehicle components sales juggernaut around today. But what if you don’t want to buy car parts online? What if you want to physically hold the part and make sure it’s right for your car or truck before buying it? What if you don’t want to wait for shipping? These are all things that suck about buying parts online!

2. Verify, Verify, Verify!

Call the business or organization to substantiate your specific part number before you complete any purchase. If you do not do enough research you could buy an old part that doesn’t fit your vehicl correctly causing you time, money and grief. You’ll learn that some parts list of components is long, from computers, modules, and sensors, to a lot of basic things like
alternators and starters. You can rely on us to know everything about your car down to the smallest parts and details.

3. Negotiate Price But Be Polite

It’s common courtesy for many junkyards to match a cheaper price from another merchandiser around Rancho Cucamonga. First, you’ve got to make sure the part will work correctly on your car then negotiate to get the best deal. A lot of times you can find parts much cheaper in person then online shopping.

Second, once you haggle, confirm you say you probably did your research on eBay and craigslist. Be honest with the guy on the opposite line. He has the same info as you and if you jerk him around, he might just hang up on you.

4. Stay Away From Craigslist

Craigslist is known to be a shady marketplace but you could find a good deal. Most of what you get on Craigslist are going to be sold as is, whereas the opposite 2 sources enable you to either exchange the goods or get your money back. For this reason, we stay away from craigslist.

5. The Internet Is Great For Rare Auto Parts

Some components for hybrid vehicles, high-end models, and classics are rare parts.  I once required a DC-DC device for a 10-year-old Honda Civic Hybrid. The value of the part was around $1800, and neither eBay nor Car-Part listed it on the market.

Stopping by a local junk yard that had the part in their inventory, we found the part for less than $100. I’ve found that specific modules for older or limited-run vehicles will produce similar headaches. If you are shopping for rare, unique, and hard-to-find components, your best bet is to research locally and track it down face to face.

6. Need A Rare Car Part? Get Medieval!

Many hobbyists with time to kill can bring their own tools and take the parts out themselves. This can be the most affordable choice for most auto parts shoppers, however it will take you time and energy.

Another option is to shop for vehicle parts from a salvage auction or Insurance vehicle Auctions. However, most auctions require a brokers license to even enter the premises. The local auctions typically have access to far better vehicles.

7. Local Auto Parts Shops For The Win

Auto parts dealers like Auto Zone and Pep Boys sell brand new car parts, so you can expect to pay full retail price on new parts. The staff is usually friendly and helpful using their computer database to locate your parts. You can have them order any part and pick it up a few days later. We welcome our customers to find parts at the best deal and bring them to us to install. We can also find you any part and give you a fair price for parts and labor.

I agree– making a detailed parts list is really beneficial in helping you find the right parts and deals. I would recommend taking it a step further and ordering the list based on need. From there you can compare the costs. Sometimes you’ll find that it is better to buy the first half of the parts at one store and the other half somewhere else.
